Captur diesel warning light and power loss

I'm at my wit's end with my 2014 Renault Captur diesel. I've got a warning light, and the engine feels like it's lost half its oomph! It's puffing out smoke when I accelerate, and the exhaust fumes are strong. The mileage is just under 100k km, 99764 to be exact. Any bright ideas? Is it the particulate filter, or am I looking at something worse?

Sounds like DPF issues. Low pressure could point to a faulty sensor. Have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption? Any unusual noises coming from the exhaust system? Has the car been doing a lot of short trips recently?

Fuel consumption seems normal. No weird noises, just the usual diesel clatter. And yes, I mostly do short trips to work. Could it be the exhaust back pressure sensor then?

Short trips are murder on diesel particulate filters. That, combined with the symptoms you're describing, strongly suggests a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. Honestly, with all that going on, I would get it to a workshop as soon as possible. Continuing to drive it in that condition could cause more damage.

Dropped it off at the shop this morning, and you were spot on. They ran a diagnostic, and the exhaust back pressure sensor was indeed kaput. The whole thing, sensor and labor, came to 245€ Appreciate the help!
