Captur EGR Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Renault Captur with a gasoline engine exhibited symptoms such as reduced engine power, check engine light, smoke during acceleration, rough running, increased fuel consumption, jerking, and a hissing noise, suggesting a defective EGR valve. The hissing noise was particularly noticeable during acceleration. The issue was confirmed to be a jammed open EGR valve, which was causing the engine to struggle. Replacing the EGR valve resolved the problem, restoring the car's performance.

The hissing is noticeable mainly during acceleration or when the engine is working harder. Did you confirm it was the EGR valve in your case?

Yep, EGR valve was the culprit. It was jammed open, causing all sorts of havoc. Think of it like trying to run with a blocked nose – the engine just can't perform. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. In the end, the cost to have it sorted was 355€.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out it was indeed the EGR valve. Replaced it, and the car is running smoothly again. The cost was exactly as you said 355€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Captur, though it's not the 2021 model. Check engine light kept coming on, and the car felt like it was struggling to breathe, especially uphill. Is the hissing sound constant, or only when the engine is under load? Almost like an air leak.
