Captur Hybrid Transmission Errors
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Renault Captur hybrid is experiencing transmission errors at 161,867 km, with warning lights and error codes related to the transmission oil pressure sensor. The issues include the gearbox going into limp mode, rough shifts, and grinding noises during gear changes. The suspected cause is low transmission oil, which was confirmed and resolved by topping up the oil and replacing the sensor, leading to smooth operation again.

I haven't checked the oil level yet, to be honest. Been meaning to. Where exactly is the transmission oil dipstick on these things? Or do you need to get under the car?

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure where it'd be on your Captur. With my Volvo, there wasn't even a dipstick! You had to remove a plug and check the level that way. Sounds like a pain, doesn't it? If you're not sure, I'd really recommend taking it to a workshop. The repair was about 365€ but was worth every penny to stop the nightmare!

Thanks for the insight. Appreciate it. The gearbox oil level was indeed low. Topped it up, sensor replaced, and everything seems to be running smoothly again.

Oh my gosh, that sounds incredibly frustrating! Is it even safe to drive? I had a similar thing happen with my old Volvo V70, though it wasn't a hybrid. Same symptoms – lights, limp mode, the whole shebang! I never thought about the oil level. Did you check it? What does the manual say?
