Captur oil level sensor fault

I'm having a nightmare with my 2016 Renault Captur diesel. I keep getting an error message about the oil level sensor and the oil pressure warning lamp lights up. I've checked the oil level manually, and it's fine, so I'm guessing it's a faulty sensor. The error memory confirms the 'oil level sensor signal faulty' message. I've even jiggled the wires and plug connected to the sensor, but no luck. Anyone else had this issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Renault Captur diesel owner experienced persistent error messages related to the oil level sensor and oil pressure warning lamp, despite the oil level being adequate. The error memory indicated a faulty oil level sensor signal. After checking and jiggling the wires and plug without success, it was suggested to have the issue professionally diagnosed. The problem was identified as a faulty connection to the oil level sensor, which was resolved by fixing the wiring, eliminating the error.

I had a similar issue with my Renault Captur (don't remember the year exactly, sorry). The oil monitoring system went haywire. Was it definitely the sensor itself, or did they check the wiring?

Thanks for the quick reply! I only checked the plug and wiring myself, gave it a little wiggle. How did you determine if the sensor or the wiring was the problem?

Well, in my case, after similar symptoms, I brought it to a workshop. They identified the same error: oil level sensor/signal faulty, likely cause being a defective cable or plug connection. Replacing the sensor and fixing the connection cost me around 95€. I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed to be sure.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop as you suggested, and you were spot on. It was indeed a faulty connection to the oil level sensor. They fixed the wiring, and the error is gone now. Appreciate your help!
