Interesting! How did you figure out it was the alternator regulator? Did you have to replace the whole alternator or just the regulator itself?

Well, after a lot of head-scratching and some online research I took it to a workshop. They tested the alternator output and found it was spiking. In my case, they replaced the whole alternator since it was easier and the labor cost was about the same. But yeah, a faulty regulator can definitely cause overvoltage issues. I would recommend going to a garage.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop and you were spot on - faulty voltage regulator on the alternator. New alternator fitted and it's all sorted. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed!

Hey! That sounds suspiciously similar to an issue I had with my old Opel Astra. It kept throwing electrical errors and the battery was always flat. Turned out to be a faulty alternator regulator causing power surges. Might be worth checking that out!
