Captur transmission slipping

I'm having an issue with my 2017 Renault Captur, gasoline engine. At 87628 kilometers, the check engine light and transmission indicator light keep coming on. The gearbox seems to slip, shifts are unclean, and I occasionally hear grinding noises when shifting. Error memory suggests an automatic transmission converter defect. Could this be a converter failure?

Hey, that sounds rough. I had something similar happen with my Captur. Check engine light, slipping... it was a nightmare. Any surging when you're trying to accelerate at highway speeds? How are the revs behaving when this happens?

Yes, there is an engine surge. RPMs fluctuate erratically when attempting to maintain speed at approximately 110 km/h. Is this consistent with your experience?

Yep, pretty much exactly what happened to me. Sadly, it does sound like the torque converter. Bite the bullet and get it checked out at a reputable workshop before it causes more damage. Don't delay; these things only get worse, and you don't want to risk being stranded.

Based on your experience and the workshop's diagnostic, the torque converter was indeed defective, leading to a repair cost of 2120€. Thanks for confirming the likely cause; it helped me prepare for the diagnosis.
