Cavalier Check Engine Light Rough Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevrolet Cavalier experienced a check engine light, reduced power, and rough idle at 94,000 km. The error code indicated a potential issue with the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. Replacing the faulty IAT sensor resolved the problems, eliminating the check engine light and restoring normal engine performance.

The error code implicates the intake air temperature sensor directly. Could this sensor malfunction cause the degradation in engine performance and the check engine light? Did your Opel Astra have similar symptoms?

Absolutely! It drove me nuts! The check engine light was always on, and the engine was rough. It felt like it would stall. Take it to a workshop and have them check the IAT sensor. In my case, it was the sensor itself. It's not too expensive, but better safe than sorry.

I replaced the intake air temperature sensor based on your recommendation. The 155€ repair resolved the issues. The check engine light is off, engine power is back, and the rough idle is gone. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds familiar! My old Opel Astra with the turbo diesel had similar issues: check engine light and sputtering. Did you read the error code with a proper diagnostic tool? My error codes pointed to the air intake. Check the easy stuff first!
