Ccrosser intermittent starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Citroen Ccrosser experienced intermittent starting issues, shutting off while driving, and rough running. The problem was suspected to be related to the ignition switch or a fuse in the starting circuit. After checking for voltage drops across the ignition switch terminals, it was confirmed that the switch was faulty, causing intermittent power loss. Replacing the ignition switch resolved the issue.

Thanks! No, I haven't specifically checked for voltage drops across the terminals. I visually inspected the switch and the wiring seemed okay, but I didn't use a multimeter. Could you elaborate on where exactly I should measure, and what voltage drop would be problematic?

Measure the voltage between the input and output terminals of the ignition switch while attempting to start the engine. A voltage drop of more than 0.5V indicates excessive resistance within the switch. Given your symptoms, the switch is likely failing internally. I would recommend taking it to a workshop, as they have specialized tools to properly diagnose the issue.

Thanks for the advice! I had a mechanic check the ignition switch voltage drop as you suggested. The switch was indeed faulty, causing intermittent power loss. A replacement ignition switch and labor cost me 52€. Everything's running smoothly now.

I had similar symptoms with my old Renault Megane. The issue was a faulty ignition switch, causing intermittent power loss to the engine management system. Have you checked for any voltage drops across the ignition switch terminals when the key is in the 'start' position?
