Celerio's Stubborn Memory Lock Blocks Code Reset

My automotive diagnostics showed a stored error code, and it seems there is an active memory lock in the control unit. Cannot get the computer system to clear these codes, even after fixing the initial problem. Has anyone experienced this with a 2016 Celerio (gas engine, 119206 KM)? Looking for advice before going back to the shop, since my last mechanic visit was not great.

Had a similar ECU fault on a 2013 Suzuki Swift. The control unit showed persistent error codes even after addressing the initial undervoltage problem. The root cause was a degraded battery and faulty alternator that created voltage fluctuations, causing the ECU to maintain active memory codes. The repair required proper ECU diagnostics with specialized equipment. A standard code reader wasnt enough to clear the stored data. The workshop needed to: 1. Test battery condition and charging system 2. Verify alternator output 3. Use advanced diagnostic tools to reset the control unit 4. Clear active memory after confirming stable voltage This was a serious electrical system issue that could have led to multiple component failures if left unaddressed. Unusual electrical glitches, hard starts, and system malfunctions are common symptoms when the ECU detects inconsistent power supply. Based on the symptoms described, suggest having a certified technician perform complete electrical system diagnostics. The persistent codes often indicate underlying voltage regulation problems that need professional attention.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Suzuki Swift ECU fault, very similar to what I faced. After reading your detailed explanation, I am more confident its related to the electrical system in my Celerio too. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, unusual glitches and hard starts. Would you mind sharing how much the complete ECU diagnostics and repair ended up costing you? Also curious if youve had any recurring issues since getting it fixed? My main concern is making sure the repair actually resolves the memory lock problem long-term.

Just wanted to update on the costs since fixing my Swift's electrical issues. The complete automotive diagnostics and ECU fault repair came to 240€, this covered the full electrical system check and fixing the undervoltage problems causing the control unit issues. Great news is the Fault memory lock active status was completely resolved after the repair. The computer system is now working perfectly with no recurring issues for over 8 months. The investment was worth it since proper car electronics diagnostics prevented potential damage to other components. The key was having a qualified technician use specialized equipment to properly diagnose and reset the control unit. Regular code readers often cant handle these complex electrical system faults. My advice would be to ensure your mechanic has the right diagnostic tools for ECU-related repairs. Since the fix, no more hard starts or electrical glitches. The car runs smoothly with stable voltage throughout the system. Definitely recommend getting it properly diagnosed and repaired to avoid bigger problems down the line.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Following your suggestions, I took my Celerio to a certified electrical specialist who properly diagnosed the issue. The fault codes were indeed related to voltage problems, caused by a failing voltage regulator. The complete diagnostics and repair cost 280€, which included: Full electrical system testing, Voltage regulator replacement, ECU reset and code clearing, Battery condition check After two weeks of driving, the car runs perfectly with no fault codes or computer system errors. The active memory lock is gone and all electrical systems work normally. No more hard starts or unusual glitches. The technician explained that using proper automotive diagnostics equipment was crucial for resolving the ECU fault completely. Regular scanners cant always handle these complex electrical issues. Really glad I got this fixed by a qualified specialist instead of continuing with basic troubleshooting. The investment in proper car electronics repair was definitely worth avoiding potential damage to other components.
