Check engine light and exhaust leak on Mini Clubman
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Mini Clubman exhibited a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating an aging issue with the NOx storage catalyst and nitrogen oxides. An exhaust leak was suspected to be related to the emissions system problem. It was suggested that the leak could affect sensor readings, triggering the error. The issue was confirmed to be an exhaust leak, which was subsequently repaired.

An exhaust leak, you say? Where exactly should I be looking? I'm not super familiar with automotive repair, but I can probably spot something obvious.

Yep, that was my issue exactly! The leak messes with the readings from the sensors related to NOx emissions, triggering the error. Honestly, I'd take it to a workshop. They can find the leak and do the automotive repair properly.

Just wanted to update you. Turns out it was a leak in the exhaust system, like you suggested. Got it fixed for 265€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot. The check engine light was on and the error code pointed to the emissions system. Have you checked for any obvious exhaust leaks?
