Check engine light high fuel consumption

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Lexus GS gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping on, and my fuel consumption has gone through the roof! I've got 241408 km on the clock. Could this be a VANOS failure? I've read online that a faulty camshaft solenoid valve or a power supply issue can cause this. Anyone else experienced this?

I had something similar happen with my GS! Higher fuel consumption and the check engine light were the first signs. Could be a VANOS solenoid issue. Have you noticed any rough idling or loss of power?

Rough idling... now that you mention it, yes, sometimes it feels a bit shaky. Power loss, hard to say for sure, but it doesn't feel as responsive as it used to. VANOS solenoid, eh? Is that a pricey fix? And how did you know it was that?

Sounds very familiar. It ended up being a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves, which caused my VANOS mechanics to be faulty. I recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. Could be the same issue, and ignoring it might cause bigger problems down the road.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll get it checked out ASAP. The estimated repair cost is around 250€. I really appreciate the advice!
