I visually inspected the air struts, but what am I looking for in terms of damage or leaks? Also, where is the compressor located, and what noises or vibrations should I listen for?

Think of checking a tire for a puncture. For air struts, look for tears, cracks, or a greasy film indicating leaks. You might hear hissing. The compressor is usually near the rear axle or under the spare tire compartment. Listen for a labored sound, like a struggling vacuum cleaner, or excessive vibration when adjusting height. I'd advise a workshop visit. They can pinpoint the problem. In my case, it was a faulty connection, quickly fixed.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll schedule a workshop appointment. It was indeed a defective cable or plug connection, and the repair cost 95€. Your insights helped a lot.

Sounds familiar. My 2018 Volvo XC90 had similar symptoms – leaning, error messages, headlight issues – all pointing to air suspension. It's like a plumbing problem; if one pipe bursts, pressure drops. Did you check the air struts for damage or leaks? What about the compressor for unusual noises or vibrations?
