Chevrolet N400 engine stall after fuel filter change
Summary of the thread
After replacing the fuel filter on a 2016 Chevrolet N400, the engine began stalling at idle, the check engine light activated, and engine power was reduced. The suspected cause was a defective fuel pressure regulator, potentially damaged during the filter change. Testing the fuel pressure and replacing the faulty regulator resolved the issue.

Thank you for the insight. I did not measure the fuel pressure after the filter replacement, nor did I replace the pressure sensor. Could an incorrect fuel pressure reading really cause such significant performance issues, even to the point of stalling?

In my case with the Opel, the faulty fuel pressure regulator, likely damaged during the filter change, caused the ECU to misinterpret the fuel demand, resulting in those symptoms. I'd recommend having the fuel pressure tested professionally to confirm. It might save you some time and money in the long run. Best take it to a workshop.

I appreciate the advice. It turned out to be exactly as you suspected: a defective fuel pressure regulator, likely damaged during the fuel filter replacement. The repair cost 45€. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

The symptoms you describe sound familiar. I had a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Astra, also gasoline-powered: check engine light, rough idle, and power loss. It also happened after a fuel filter replacement. Was the fuel pressure within the normal range after the new filter was installed? Did you use a new pressure sensor?
