Cima Audio System Failure

My 2001 Nissan Cima with a gasoline engine has a completely dead audio system and a stored error message. Any ideas?

I also have a Cima. I had a similar audio problem. Did you notice any speaker crackle before it died? How's the general audio quality been? Have you checked the dashboard controls or tried to pair a device via Bluetooth? These units are notorious for problems.

No crackling before it failed, and the audio quality was fine to me. I tried the dashboard controls with no response. Bluetooth pairing also doesn't work since the system is totally unresponsive. Does that point to a specific component failure?

Sounds like the display unit itself is defective. I took mine to a shop, and they confirmed that. Repair cost about 725€, including head unit replacement. I'd recommend a professional; it might save you frustration.

Thanks for the confirmation and advice. A shop visit seems best. Appreciate you sharing your experience and the repair cost estimate; that's a useful benchmark. I'll post the resolution here when it's fixed.
