Cima electronic parking brake failure
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Nissan Cima is experiencing a complete failure of the electronic parking brake, with a logged fault and a persistent warning light on the speedometer. The suspected cause is a defective electric motor within the brake caliper. It is advised to check the brake switch and conduct full brake diagnostics, focusing on the electronic brake module. Ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed the defective motor, leading to a repair.

Thanks for the swift response. Yes, the symptoms appeared rather abruptly. I'll recheck the brake switch. Can you elaborate on the specific diagnostic steps you took regarding the electronic brake module? Any particular codes I should be looking for?

Given the sudden onset and assuming you've rechecked the brake switch, further DIY diagnostics are risky. In my case, the electric motor in the caliper was indeed the culprit. I'd advise a workshop visit with proper diagnostic tools before potentially causing more damage.

Understood. Thank you for confirming my suspicion about the electric motor and for the advice. I took it to the workshop, they confirmed the defective motor in the brake calliper and the repair came to 505€. Will get it sorted there.

I had a similar issue with my Cima. Check the brake switch and run full brake diagnostics, particularly focusing on the electronic brake module. A brake failure like that isn't something to ignore. Did your symptoms show up suddenly?
