Cima Hybrid Overheating

I'm seeing signs of a bad thermostat cooling circuit motor in my 2020 Nissan Cima hybrid. The engine is overheating and takes forever to warm up. A bad map thermostat seems likely. Has anyone else run into this or have diagnostic tips before I replace it?

Summary of the thread

The 2020 Nissan Cima hybrid is experiencing engine overheating and slow warm-up, suggesting a potential issue with the thermostat cooling circuit motor. A faulty map thermostat is suspected as the cause. While the cooling fan and coolant levels appear normal, professional diagnosis and thermostat replacement are recommended to resolve the issue.

Overheating is never good. I had something similar with my old 2012 BMW 3 Series, but it was a different engine. It was a dodgy temperature sensor messing with the cooling fan. Have you checked that the cooling fan is kicking in when the engine gets hot? Might be an easy fix.

Thanks, I checked the cooling fan, and it seems to work fine. Coolant level is good, and no leaks. What symptoms did your BMW have? Did it also take a long time to warm up, or was overheating the main sign?

Overheating was the main thing. It would creep up fast, especially in traffic. Slow warm-up wasn't as obvious, but thinking back, it probably was taking longer. If your fan's okay and no leaks, and you think it's the thermostat, get it checked by a workshop. Could be more serious.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on what you said and my initial thoughts, I'll get a professional diagnosis and replace the thermostat. I was quoted about 350€ for the repair. Thanks again.
