Cima Power Steering Vibration

My 2008 Nissan Cima with a gasoline engine has a power steering issue at 111211 kilometers. The steering wheel vibrates and shakes, handling feels spongy, and the error memory shows a power steering fault. Sometimes it's very hard to steer, like the power steering is failing. I checked the pressure hose and fluid level, but I think it might be a bad cable or plug. Any ideas before I check the steering rack or electric steering?

Hey, I had something similar on my Cima! Steering wheel shaking and felt like I was fighting it sometimes. Check the connections to the steering column itself. Could be a loose or corroded plug.

Thanks! Can you tell me which connections to the steering column you mean? Did you use any diagnostic steps, or was it just a visual inspection?

Visual inspection mostly. Wiggled some plugs, and the problem vanished, only to return a few days later. Eventually, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was indeed a faulty connector. They charged me 95€ for replacing this piece.

Thanks for the advice! The electrical connector suggestion was spot on. I checked the connections to the steering column and found a corroded, loose connector. After cleaning and securing it, the power steering is working again!
