Citan air suspension problem

My Mercedes Citan diesel built in is giving me grief. The air suspension seems totally shot. It won't lift anymore, and the whole thing is leaning to one side. I'm getting an error message and a warning light, and the low beams are pointing way off. It's throwing an error related to the air suspension compressor. Where do I even start looking for these suspension components?

I had a similar issue with my Citan, although I didn't have the headlight issue. The leaning and the error messages were exactly the same. Did you check the air struts themselves for any visible damage? Also, have you tried locating the suspension pump and inspecting its connections? Sometimes a loose or corroded connector can cause the malfunction.

I had a quick look at the air struts, but didn't see anything obvious. I'll give them a proper inspection in daylight. You mentioned the suspension pump – any idea where it's located on the Citan? I've been hunting around but haven't had any luck finding it. Is it easy enough to get to, or is it buried deep somewhere?

On mine it was near the rear axle, slightly tucked away. You'll need to get under the van to see it properly. If you are not comfortable with this, I would recommend you take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry when dealing with suspension components and air suspension malfunction.

Thanks for the tip about the rear axle, I had a look and found a loose connector on the compressor. Cleaned it up and reconnected, and it seems to have sorted the problem. The error is gone, and the suspension is working again! Ended up costing me 95€ for the new plug. Cheers for the help!
