Citan rough idling and check engine light
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mercedes Citan with a gasoline engine was experiencing rough idling, stalling, and a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating a misfire. The initial suspicion was a defective ignition coil, but there was also consideration of faulty cable or plug connections. After confirming the ignition coil was the issue, it was replaced, resolving the problem and restoring smooth operation.

The ignition system was checked and the fault code pointed to the ignition coil. Before replacing it, I wanted to rule out a simple cable or connector issue. Did yours also misfire?

The misfire was indeed present. Given the diagnostic code and your symptoms, replacing the ignition coil is likely the correct approach. Consider consulting a workshop for confirmation.

It was a defective ignition coil. New ignition coil installed 95€ including checking the cable and plug connection. Runs smoothly now. Thanks for your help!

I encountered similar symptoms in my Citan. Confirm that the ignition coil is indeed defective. A faulty connection to the ignition coil could certainly be the issue. Has the ignition system been checked?
