Citroen C2 Rough Running Hissing

My 2005 Citroen C2 diesel is running rough with a serious drop in power and a loud hissing sound when accelerating. Fuel consumption is also up. Could it be the intake manifold flap control? It has 115k km on the clock.

That sounds familiar. I had the same symptoms with my C2: reduced power, engine misfire, and a weird hissing noise. I think it is likely the intake manifold flap control, since that's what went bad on mine. It controls the airflow, and when it goes kaput, the engine doesn't get the right mixture. Does it feel like it's struggling at low speeds?

Exactly! It's worst at lower speeds, especially in the lower gears. Going up hills is a real pain now. The hissing is constant when I accelerate, and the engine just feels really unhappy. So, you reckon it was definitely the intake manifold flap control on yours? What did you have to do to fix it?

100% sounds like the same thing. I tried poking around myself, but it's a fiddly job, and I didn't want to mess anything up even more. I ended up taking it to a local garage, and they confirmed it was the intake manifold flap switch. They replaced the whole unit, which sorted it right out. Cost me about 465€ all in. Best advice I can give you is to get it checked out by a pro.

Thanks so much for the advice! Sounds like I'm heading straight to the garage then. I was hoping it would be something simple, but I guess not. At least now I have a better idea of what to tell them to look for! Hopefully, it's a straightforward fix like yours was.
