Citroen C3 AC compressor shuts off

Interesting. I hadn't considered the relay switch specifically. Where is the A/C compressor relay located on the C3, and is there a way to test it without just replacing it? Any pointers on checking the wiring for issues?

On the Astra, the relay was in the engine compartment fuse box. I'm not 100% sure about the C3, but your owner's manual should have a diagram. You can test it with a multimeter to see if it's switching properly when the A/C is engaged. As for the wiring, check for any corrosion, loose connections, or damaged insulation. Honestly, chasing electrical gremlins can be a pain. If you're not comfortable with electrical troubleshooting, it might be worth taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I checked the relay and wiring, and everything seemed okay. I took it to a workshop, and you were right about the relay. It turns out it was faulty, causing the compressor to shut off due to undervoltage. They replaced it, and the A/C is working perfectly now. Cost me 240€, parts and labor included.

Yep, sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my 2012 Opel Astra. The A/C would cut out intermittently, especially under load. We initially suspected a refrigerant leak or a faulty pressure sensor, but the diagnostics pointed to a dodgy relay switch causing undervoltage to the A/C compressor. Have you checked the relay and associated wiring?
