Citroen C3 Engine Misfires

Having trouble with my 2002 Citroen C3, gasoline engine. Only 29174 km. Engine running rough, check engine light on. Jerks when accelerating, power reduced. Suspect combustion misfires. Anyone seen this? What could cause it?

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Rough running and check engine light. Did you check the ignition coil or the spark plugs? Could also be the fuel injection system.

Thanks! Haven't checked those yet. Could a defective injector cause these symptoms? Not very familiar with car repairs.
