Citroen C5 AC Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Citroen C5 with a gasoline engine is experiencing an AC failure where the compressor won't engage, despite intact fuses and a seemingly fine AC relay. The issue arose suddenly, leading to speculation about a defect in one of the expansion valves as a potential cause. Given the complexity of modern AC systems and the abrupt nature of the failure, consulting a specialist is recommended for accurate diagnosis and repair.

It was rather abrupt. One day it was performing admirably, and the next... nothing. Is that similar to what you experienced? Did you ever check how the system pressures looks like?

Yep, sounds very familiar. Mine went kaput in pretty much the same way. Given the sudden failure, and the fact that you've checked the basics, I'd say your suspicion of a valve issue might be spot-on. I ended up taking mine to a specialist; modern AC systems are a bit too complex to tackle in the garage, at least for me. Cost me a pretty penny, but at least I'm not melting in the summer heat anymore. I'd suggest you do the same.

A specialist, you say? I feared as much. A trip to the workshop seems inevitable, then. Your experience has steeled my resolve to face the financial music. I'll report back on the diagnosis and the repair cost. It's going to be around 1000€, I think.

I feel your pain! I had a similar AC issue with my C5. I was suspecting the pressure switch, but I could not find where the problem was coming from. Was it a gradual decline in cooling, or did it just suddenly stop working?
