Citroen Jumpy Fuel Pressure Issue

Hi, I've got a 2013 Citroen Jumpy diesel that's giving me headaches. It's done 169958 km. The check engine light is on, and the engine stalls at idle sometimes. I've also noticed reduced engine power, especially uphill. It all started after I changed the fuel filter myself. Could this be related? I suspect the fuel pressure regulator might be the culprit. Anyone experienced similar issues?

Greetings. The symptoms you describe – check engine light, stalling, and power loss – certainly suggest a fuel pressure issue. Considering it began after a fuel filter change, it is plausible that air was introduced into the system, or the regulator was disturbed during the process. Is it possible the fuel filter wasn't correctly seated, or perhaps a line wasn't properly tightened, leading to a pressure drop? Have you tried checking the fuel lines and filter housing for any visible leaks or loose connections?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've double-checked the filter seating and the lines for leaks, but everything seems tight. The error code points towards the fuel pressure regulator specifically. Is it possible the regulator itself was damaged during the filter change, or could it just be a coincidence that it failed right after? Could a faulty pressure sensor cause these symptoms too?

It is unlikely that changing the fuel filter would directly damage the fuel pressure regulator, unless it was physically bumped or stressed during the process. However, the timing is suspicious, and as you mentioned the error entry after the filter change it could be related. The regulator could be faulty, or, like you suggested, the sensor could be providing inaccurate readings. Think of it like this: the sensor is the messenger, and the regulator is the worker. If the messenger is lying, the worker will do the wrong thing. Given the symptoms and error code, it would be prudent to have a workshop confirm the diagnosis and conduct further testing of the fuel rail pressure. Proceed cautiously to avoid consequential damages.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. It turned out the fuel pressure regulator was indeed defective, likely triggered by the filter change messing with the fuel pressure. They replaced it for 45€, and the van is running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!
