Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't really paid attention to whether it's worse when the engine's cold or hot, I'll try to keep that in mind. Regarding the OBD2 scanner, no, I don't have access to one. If it IS an ignition issue, what exactly could be the problem? Could it be something simple I could fix myself, or am I looking at a potentially expensive repair?

Okay, gotcha. Without an OBD2 reading, it's tough to say for sure, but based on your symptoms, a defective ignition coil is a strong possibility, especially with that mileage. The cable or plug connection to it might also be defective as you initially suspected. Honestly, while you could try replacing the coil yourself, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and ensure the new coil if that's the problem is correctly installed. You don't want to cause further damage. Plus, they can clear that check engine light for you.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I suspected it might be beyond my capabilities. I took it to a local shop, and you were right, it was a defective ignition coil! They replaced it, and the connection was a bit dodgy too. The whole thing cost me about 95€, but now the engine's running smoothly again. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like you might be dealing with an ignition issue. Rough running, stalling, check engine light, and jerking all point in that direction. Since you mentioned wiggling wires, it could very well be related to a faulty connection. Have you noticed if it's worse when the engine is cold or hot? Also, do you know anyone with an OBD2 scanner who could read the error code? That would really narrow down the possibilities.
