City Intermittent Starting Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2001 Honda City is experiencing intermittent starting issues, with the engine sometimes failing to start, shutting off mid-drive, or running roughly. The problem is more frequent on hotter days or after the engine has warmed up. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the ignition switch, which was confirmed as the cause in this case as well. The repair was successfully completed at a local shop.

That's an interesting point. Actually, it does seem to be more frequent on hotter days, or after the engine has warmed up considerably. What ended up being the cause in your case? Was it an ignition key problem or something more complex?

Yup, sounds like the same thing. I’m no expert, but I’d bet it's the ignition switch. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it pretty quick, but I wouldn’t try fixing it yourself if you’re not confident.

Thanks for the information! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I took it to a local shop, and you were right - it was the ignition switch. Repair cost was 52€. All resolved now.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my City. The engine cutting out randomly sounds familiar. Did you notice if it happened more when it was hot outside, or after you'd been driving for a while?
