Civic Auxiliary Heater Malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Honda Civic with a gasoline engine is experiencing an auxiliary heater malfunction, specifically with the parking heater not activating and an error stored in the system. The suspected cause is a faulty glow plug. After considering other potential issues like the temperature sensor, it was confirmed by a workshop that the glow plug was indeed the problem, leading to its replacement.

The climate control and ventilation seem fine. You think it's worth checking the temperature sensor before replacing the glow plug?

While it's possible, given the error code and the parking heater issue, it does sound like the glow plug. Honestly, diagnosing these auxiliary heater problems can be a real pain without the proper tools. You could spend hours troubleshooting. I ended up biting the bullet and taking mine to a workshop. Saved me a lot of headaches, even if it stung a bit.

Thanks for the input. I took it to a workshop, and you were right; it was the glow plug. Repair cost 440€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Civic, though I can't say if it's the exact same model year. Is the climate control acting up in any other way? Any issues with the blower motor or ventilation system? A faulty temperature sensor might also be involved.
