Civic Diesel Rough Running Injector Suspected

My 2000 Honda Civic diesel with 237937 kilometers is showing a check engine light and rough running. Diagnostic says 'reset quantity drift compensation', suggesting a defective injection valve or injector. Anyone seen this? I've thought about airflow sensors, but fuel injection seems more likely.

Summary of the thread

A 2000 Honda Civic diesel exhibited rough running and a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating a 'reset quantity drift compensation' error, suggesting a defective injection valve or injector. The issue was suspected to be related to fuel injection rather than airflow sensors. After consulting with a mechanic, it was confirmed that a faulty fuel injector was the cause, which was replaced and recalibrated, resolving the problem and clearing the check engine light.

I drive a Civic too, and your symptoms sound like what I experienced. Are you noticing any performance decrease, especially during acceleration? Check the compensation adjustment values before you condemn the injectors. Like checking vitals before prescribing medication.

Yes, a decrease in performance, especially when accelerating. Could you elaborate on the 'compensation adjustment values'? Is that a diagnostic procedure with specialized software, or is there a more basic way to check them? Think of me as a surgeon asking for the location of an anomaly on an X-ray.

The values are accessible via diagnostic software. Given the symptoms, error code, and performance decrease, I'd advise against further self-diagnosis and suggest a reputable workshop. Your Civic needs a skilled hand; DIY repairs could worsen it. Like fixing a complex watch with a hammer.

Your insights were helpful. I took it to a certified mechanic. Turns out one fuel injector was the problem. Replaced it, recalibrated the drift compensation. Total cost was 515€. The engine now runs great, and the check engine light is off. Thanks again.
