Battery voltage is nominal and the starter relay appears functional. I specifically suspect the clutch switch because the gear selector on the dash goes blank, which in my experience is typical when the car thinks the clutch isn't depressed. Can you elaborate on the differences you observed with your Astra?

Right, I get the clutch switch angle now. On the Astra, the gear display wasn't affected, that's a key difference I suppose. Based on your more detailed description, it really does sound like that switch. Honestly, I'd probably just take it to a workshop. Electrical gremlins can be a real headache.

You were spot on. It was indeed the clutch pedal switch. The cable connector was faulty. The repair including parts and labor came to 95€ Thanks for your input.

Sounds like a pain. I had something kinda similar happen with my old Vauxhall Astra, but the symptoms were slightly different. My main worry would be the car not starting. Have you checked the basics like battery voltage and the starter motor relay, just to be sure?
