Civic soft brake pedal ABS issue

I've got a 2006 Honda Civic with a gasoline engine and 175431 km on it. The hydraulic brakes feel 'soft' and less responsive. I've checked the disc brakes, metal brake lines, and fluid level, but everything looks fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

Another person suggested that a similar issue in their Renault Megane was due to a malfunctioning ABS module causing undervoltage. The Civic owner took the car to a workshop, where it was confirmed that the ABS module was indeed the problem, and it was repaired.

I had similar brake issues with my old Renault Megane. The strange pedal feel happened because of a malfunctioning ABS system. Do you experience this constantly, or only when braking hard?

The feedback is most noticeable during regular braking, especially at lower speeds. During hard braking the ABS seems to be working as intended. Does that sound like your Megane?

Yes, it sounds very similar. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty ABS module causing undervoltage. I suggest you get the ABS system checked properly at a workshop.

Thanks! I took the car to a workshop, and they confirmed that the ABS module was the problem, just as you said. It was causing undervoltage, which affected the brakes. The repair cost 240€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks again!
