CLA Transmission Issue and Repair

My 2022 CLA with a Gasoline engine is acting up I think it might be a transmission sensor issue. The MIL light is on and the error memory shows something with the transmission oil temperature sensor. It's going into limp mode, shifts are sloppy, and I hear some grinding. Could low oil be the cause?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my CLA. Check the transmission oil level first. It could save you a trip to the shop. If it is low, top it off and see if the problem disappears.

Thanks. Where exactly is the transmission dipstick located? And what kind of oil do you recommend using?

There isn't a dipstick for the transmission. It's a sealed unit, so you'd have to check the level from underneath. Honestly, at this point, I'd just take it to a reputable shop to get it checked. It could save you from causing more damage.

Thanks. I took it to the shop like you said. Turns out gearbox oil level was indeed low, like you predicted. Transmission repair including oil change, sensor replacement, and labor came out to 365€. I appreciate the advice!
