Clio automatic transmission converter issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Renault Clio owner is experiencing issues with the automatic transmission, suspecting a defective torque converter lock-up clutch due to symptoms like gearbox slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. The check engine and transmission lights are on, and an error code related to the transmission is stored. A fellow Clio owner suggests checking the transmission fluid and confirms that the symptoms align with a torque converter issue. The problem is later confirmed by a workshop, with a repair estimate of 2120€.

Thanks. I haven't felt any vibrations beyond the usual. The transmission fluid was checked about 20000 km ago during a routine service. Is there something specific about the fluid I should know?

Since the fluid check wasn't recent, it's worth checking again to rule that out. But with those error codes and shifting issues, it does sound like the torque converter. Given my similar experience, I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop. Be ready for a potentially big bill.

I also have a Clio, and this sounds like something I dealt with not long ago. Did you feel any unusual vibrations, especially at lower speeds or when accelerating? Also, have you had the transmission fluid checked recently? It could be more than just the converter, but that's a good place to start.
