Clio Control Unit Communication Error

I'm having a strange issue with my 2011 Renault Clio, gasoline engine, at 175536 km. I'm getting a control unit communication error. The engine overheats, the check engine light is on, and there's coolant leaking under the car. It seems like excessive pressure is building in the cooling system. The diagnostic points to a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had a similar issue on my Clio. Same symptoms: overheating, check engine light, coolant leak. The data link, sometimes called a communication bus, between the ECU (Engine Control Unit) and other modules was faulty. Did you check the wiring harness and connectors for corrosion or damage? A loose or corroded connection can cause all sorts of problems.

Thanks for the insight. When you say data link, are you referring to the CAN bus (Controller Area Network)? And if so, which module was causing the communication fault in your case? I want to narrow down the search area.

Yes, it was the CAN bus. Honestly, I didn't pinpoint the exact module myself. I took it to a workshop, they ran diagnostics, found a faulty connection, fixed the wiring, and that sorted it. Saved me hours of probing around with a multimeter. Might be worth considering if you're stuck.

Thanks for confirming. I decided to follow your advice and took it to a workshop. It turned out to be a corroded connector on the coolant temperature sensor harness, causing a short circuit and communication issues. They cleaned the connector and replaced a short section of the harness. Total repair cost: 95€. Appreciate your help!
