Clio Diesel Boost Pressure Issue

My 2011 Renault Clio diesel is giving me grief. Check engine light's on, power's way down, and the throttle response is terrible. Sometimes it even stalls at idle. Fuel consumption seems higher too. I'm hearing a whistling noise, almost a loud hissing when accelerating. Mileage is at 76753 km. Done some digging, and all the signs point to a bad boost pressure system, likely a defect in the wastegate valve. Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Clio diesel too, and had similar symptoms: check engine light, reduced power, and a whistling noise. Have you checked the intercooler pipes for any leaks? That can cause a similar loss of boost. Turbo lag was awful too.

Thanks for the reply. I did a visual check of the intercooler pipes, but didn't find any obvious cracks or loose connections. I'll double-check that. Did you have any issues with stalling or increased fuel consumption? And did you happen to check the wastegate valve or pressure sensor at all?

Yeah, stalling at idle was intermittent for me, and fuel economy definitely took a hit. I didn't have the tools or know-how to properly diagnose the wastegate, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the wastegate playing up. Better get it checked properly to avoid further issues.

Appreciate the confirmation. Sounds like I'm heading for a workshop visit then. Just got the bill, ended up costing me 860€ to get it sorted. Cheers!
