Clio diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure too low

My 2013 Renault Clio diesel is giving me fits. The speedometer keeps flashing a warning light, and the engine power is noticeably reduced. Plus, whenever I accelerate, it belches out a cloud of smoke and stinks like crazy. My friend plugged it into a computer, and the error code points to the diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure being too low. He thinks it might be the exhaust back pressure sensor. Anyone else ever run into this?

I had something similar happen with my Clio. Not sure what year mine is exactly, but the symptoms you describe sound familiar. Was it hard to start too?

Starting isn't hard, it turns over normally. Just the low power, smoke, smell, and that darned light. What was your issue, and how did you fix it?

Mine was the exhaust back pressure sensor, just like your friend suspects. If it's that, you need to go to the workshop to get it fixed.

I'll get it checked out at the shop. Turns out you were spot on. It was the exhaust back pressure sensor, exactly as you and my friend suspected. The repair cost me 245€, but at least the car is running smoothly again. I appreciate your help!
