Clio electrical issues

Hi, I'm experiencing some weird electrical issues with my 2019 Renault Clio diesel. It's done 174451 km. I keep getting a 'service required' fault message, and sometimes the error lamps light up randomly. The audio and navigation systems seem to be the worst affected, sometimes cutting out altogether, or the control unit becomes totally unresponsive. I’ve checked the error memory, and there’s definitely something stored there. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had something like that happen with my Clio – not sure what year yours is, but mine did the same thing. Radio would just die, sat nav would freeze, and then everything would come back on like nothing happened. Did it feel like a loose connection, maybe?

Yes, a loose connection sounds plausible! Where exactly did you suspect the defective connection was? I'm trying to gauge if it's something I could potentially tackle myself or if I should just take it to a workshop.

Well, I'm no expert, but in my case, the garage traced it back to a dodgy cable connection on the control unit itself – apparently, the connection to the BUS system was faulty. Honestly, unless you're super confident with electrical systems, I'd seriously consider letting a professional take a look. I ended up getting it sorted at a workshop.
