Clio Key Battery Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Renault Clio displayed a 'key battery low' warning, causing issues with keyless access and locking functions. The problem was suspected to be due to dead key fob batteries, as both the primary and spare keys were affected. After replacing the key fob batteries, the issues were resolved, confirming that the low battery was the cause.

Thanks. The Clio doesn't have a slot for the key. The spare key has the same problem. Could both batteries really be dead?

That's bad luck, but yes, both batteries could be flat, especially if the spare hasn't been used. They discharge over time. I'd still bet on the batteries. Get your local garage to test the keys and replace the batteries. It should be quick.

Thanks for the advice. I had the key fob batteries replaced at my local mechanic. It cost 37€ and fixed the problem. Both keys work now.

Sounds like the key fob battery is dead. My old Megane did the same. Does the Clio have a slot in the dash to put the key in? Some Renaults do that to override a flat key battery. If it starts in the slot, it's likely the battery. Have you tried the spare key to see if it does the same thing?
