Clio oil level sensor fault

I've got a 2018 Renault Clio with a gasoline engine and I'm seeing some weird stuff. The speedometer's throwing an error message, plus a warning light's on, and the oil pressure lamp keeps lighting up. Diagnostic says it's something with the oil level sensor signal being faulty. Anyone else run into this?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I've got a Clio too, though I can't remember the exact build year. But I had similar symptoms - a warning light that kept flashing on and off - and it turned out to be a dodgy connection to the oil level sensor. The engine oil system and its sensors are pretty sensitive. Have you checked the wiring and plug connection to the sensor? That might be the culprit!

Interesting! When you say "dodgy connection," do you mean loose, or corroded, or something else?

Yeah, sorry, should have been more specific. In my case, it looked like the plug was partially disconnected. Probably from a bumpy road a few months earlier - just enough to cause an intermittent signal. If you are not familiar with car electrics maybe get it checked out at a workshop.

Thanks for the tip! I checked the connector and it looked fine, so I took it to my local mechanic. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable to the sensor. They replaced it for 95€ and the error message is gone. Problem solved!
