Clio Parking Brake Failure

I'm having trouble with the electronic parking brake on my 2020 Renault Clio Diesel. It's stopped working, leaving the car stuck on hills. Error memory is full of brake fault codes, and the warning light is on. I've tried basic diagnostics without success. Could this be a bad electric motor in the brake caliper?

Ah, the electronic parking brake gremlin! I've had a similar issue on my Clio. Was the warning light always on, or did it flicker first? Did you try a hard reset of the brake control module? What error codes did you get? They could help find the cause.

The warning light flickered before staying on. The error codes are DF047 (Parking Brake Actuator Fault) and DF623 (Brake Caliper Motor Circuit Open). I thought about a hard reset, but I'm hesitant without a clearer idea. Could these codes mean a faulty brake sensor?

Those codes point to a faulty parking brake actuator and a possible issue with the caliper motor circuit, like you thought. Replacing the brake sensor might not fix it. It seems like a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. You might need a workshop visit for a full check and repair. I had the same thing happen. Check the brake diagnostics again at the workshop.

Thanks for the advice and sharing your experience. It helps to know what to do, even if it might cost a lot. I'll get a professional assessment. The workshop quoted about 505€ for the repair, including parts and labor. It's expensive, but a working parking brake is worth it. Thanks again for your help. This was frustrating, but hopefully it gets better.
