Clio weak battery and flickering lights
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Renault Clio diesel with 73,000 km is experiencing weak battery performance during starts and flickering or dim lights. The battery terminals have been checked and are clean and tight, leading to suspicion of a faulty battery sensor. A faulty sensor could misread the battery's health, causing undercharging. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a workshop to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.

I haven't checked the voltage myself. I don't have a multimeter. What voltage should I be looking for normally? And would a faulty battery sensor cause those kinds of symptoms?

Without a multimeter it's tricky. A dodgy battery sensor can definitely mess things up – it might not be reading the battery's health correctly, causing the car to undercharge it. My Astra was eventually diagnosed with a faulty sensor. Best bet is probably to get it checked out at a workshop. It could be something simple, but better safe than sorry!

I appreciate the insight. I'll take it to a workshop this week and have them check the sensor. Hopefully, it's just that! Got a quote for 315€, let's hope that's all!

That sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Vauxhall Astra. Weak starts and dodgy lights. I'm no expert, but have you checked the battery voltage? Is it holding a good charge?
