CMAX ABS Fault

Hi, I've got a 2008 Ford CMAX, gasoline engine, with a speed signal fault. The ABS lamp lights up, and I'm experiencing traction problems, basically a total failure of the ABS system. I ran a diagnostic and it points to a defective control unit. Has anyone dealt with this?

I had similar ABS issues with my 2012 Opel Astra. The symptoms sound identical. Speedometer going haywire, ABS light, the whole nine yards. Did the diagnostic specify which control unit is the problem?

It just says 'affected control unit defective', nothing more specific, unfortunately. Was it a costly fix for your Astra? I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm in for.

Yes, it turned out to be the ABS control module itself. Replacing it wasn't cheap. Given that your diagnostic is vague and the potential cost is high, I'd advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis before ordering any parts. You need to be sure.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to a shop and you were right, ABS control module. Quoted 1000€ for the repair. Ouch.
