CMAX oil pressure warning light

I've got a 2018 Ford CMAX with a gasoline engine and about 26100 km on the clock. Recently, a warning light popped up on the speedometer, and the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up. I've checked the oil level, and it seems fine, but I suspect there might be some oil contamination. Anyone experienced similar issues?

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra. The oil pressure light can come on for a few reasons. Oil pressure is the force that the oil pump uses to send the oil through the engine to lubricate all the parts. One reason is if the oil is contaminated, it may not flow as freely. How long has it been since your last oil change and filter replacement?

The last oil change was a bit overdue, to be honest. Could that really be the culprit? What exactly happens when the maintenance interval is exceeded?

Yes, an overdue oil change is often the cause. When you exceed the maintenance interval, the oil can degrade and become sludgy, which means the oil gets thick and doesn't flow well. This sludge can clog the oil filter, preventing proper oil flow and triggering the warning lights. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it checked out properly.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded, leading to oil contamination. They performed an oil change, replaced the oil filter, and the warning lights are gone. Cost me 165€ Appreciate the help!
