CMAX Poor Engine Running Cold Start

Experiencing poor engine running during cold start with my 2008 Ford CMAX diesel, error memory, and higher fuel consumption. Suspect PTC heater. Anyone else encountered similar symptoms?

I think I might have had a similar experience with my CMAX (though not the same build year). I had cold start issues, like the engine was struggling like an old steam engine warming up on a winter's morn! Did you notice any issues with your temperature control in general, like the heat not working as efficiently as it used to?

Heating seems less effective than before, especially during shorter trips. Could you elaborate on how you resolved your issue? I am particularly curious if it also involved the PTC heater.

If your heating is less effective and your engine's grumbling more than usual on cold mornings like a grumpy bear, I'd say there's a strong chance it's the PTC heater. In my case, the electric auxiliary heater was, in fact, defective. To be on the safe side, I would suggest you take your car to the workshop!

Based on your feedback, I inspected the heating element, and I agree: it is the likely cause. I took the car to a local workshop, and indeed the auxiliary heater was defective. The repair cost me approximately 350€. The problem is solved now. Thank you again for your advice!
