CMAX Transmission Problems

I'm having a possible transmission issue with my 2012 Ford CMAX, gasoline engine, 163999 km. Paddle shifters don't work, slippage and rough shifting, grinding noise when changing gears. Shifters are slow, and gearbox sometimes enters emergency mode. There's an error code too. I think it's a defective transmission control unit. Anyone else had this?

I think I had something similar on my CMAX. Was it like the car was hesitating when shifting and just felt 'off'? It got progressively worse until I couldn't really rely on the paddles at all. Did you notice any specific gear where it was more pronounced?

Yes, that sounds very familiar! The hesitation is definitely there, and the overall feeling is decidedly 'off,' as you put it. It does seem more pronounced in the lower gears, particularly when accelerating from a standstill. Was a faulty transmission control unit the culprit in your case as well?

That's exactly what it was. I'd strongly recommend getting it checked out by a qualified technician. It's most likely the control unit, and if you leave it too long you might damage something else in the gearbox. Head to the workshop before it implodes, trust me!

Thanks for the confirmation and the advice! I'll book an appointment with a workshop to get the transmission control unit checked and replaced if needed. Estimates are around 1000€. Hopefully, this fixes it and stops more damage. I appreciate it!
