Cobalt engine running rough
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Chevrolet Cobalt is experiencing rough engine performance, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. Potential causes include issues with the timing belt, oxygen sensor, ignition coil, spark plugs, or fuel pump. A similar case was resolved by fixing a small leak in the exhaust system. It is recommended to have a professional diagnostic performed by a trusted mechanic to identify and address the issue effectively.

Indeed, it does feel like a misfire. What were the specifics of the issue you had with your Cobalt? Any details you remember would be great, as I want to fix this quickly.

Okay, so mine was doing almost the exact same thing. Turned out to be a small leak in the exhaust system. Honestly, I'd just take it to a trusted shop. They can run a proper diagnostic. Cost me about 265€ to get fixed. Best money I ever spent.

Thanks for the help. Based on your advice, I'll book an appointment with a good mechanic to check the exhaust system. Hopefully, a leak is the problem. Thanks again.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Cobalt, though I can't remember the exact year. Check engine light, the whole shebang. Does it almost feel like it's misfiring when you try to give it some gas?
