Constantly illuminated preheating lamp and high fuel consumption in diesel Opel Omega 2000

Hello folks! I have a small problem with my diesel Opel Omega from 2000 with 73139 km mileage. I had a really bad experience at my last mechanic visit, so I would like to hear your opinion. I noticed a few strange things: The preglow light is constantly on, black smoke comes out of the exhaust when accelerating, the check engine light is on, the car takes longer to start cold, sometimes it won't even start, fuel consumption is also high and DPF regeneration keeps failing. I suspect it could be due to a faulty glow plug. Have any of you had similar problems and how did your mechanics fix it? I would be pleased to hear about your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Ordered glow plugs and my colleague, the master mechanic, will then replace them. 👌👍 All four right away so that the next one doesn't give up the ghost next month!!!

It's great that you have someone who can help you with this. The cost of changing glow plugs can vary depending on the make and model of the car, as well as the labor costs. If you're able to do it yourself with the help of your colleague, you'll definitely save some money. Just make sure to follow all safety precautions while working on your vehicle. Do you have any other questions or concerns?

Hello I had changed all the glow plugs 3 weeks ago because it gave me the error glow plug 3 defective, and today I thought I would read out the vehicle and it writes the same again despite the previous error that was deleted. What could it be? Many thanks in advance.

If you're still getting the same error after replacing the glow plug, it could be an issue with the wiring or the glow plug relay. Start by checking the wiring to the glow plug for any signs of damage or loose connections. If the wiring is fine, the next step would be to check the glow plug relay. If you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a professional mechanic. Please let us know how you get on.

P0674

The P0674 code indicates an issue with the glow plug circuit in cylinder 4. Start by checking the glow plug itself for any signs of damage or wear. If the glow plug appears fine, inspect the wiring and connections for any damage or loose connections. If everything looks good, the problem might be with the glow plug control module. If you're unsure or need further assistance, it's best to consult with a professional mechanic. Let us know how it goes or if you have more questions!
