Coolant Leak Fiat Barchetta
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Fiat Barchetta is experiencing a coolant leak, indicated by a check engine light and a low coolant level warning. The issue is suspected to be a slow coolant leak, possibly from the radiator hoses, water pump, or radiator itself. A pressure test of the cooling system is recommended to identify the leak's source. The problem was confirmed to be a slow leak from a faulty hose, which was replaced at a cost of 52€.

Hoses look ok at first glance, but I'll check more closely. You mentioned a slow leak – how long did it take for the problem to become obvious on your BMW?

In my case, it took a few weeks for the coolant level to drop noticeably. Initially, I only saw a slight decrease, but eventually, it became clear there was a leak. I would strongly advise taking the car to a workshop to pressure test the cooling system. Air pockets are a major cause, but should be tested professionally.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Took it to the shop, and it was indeed a slow coolant leak from a faulty hose. Cost me 52€ to replace.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series. Same symptoms: check engine light, low coolant warning. Have you checked the radiator hoses for any visible leaks? Also, inspect around the water pump and radiator itself. It could be a slow coolant leak, which is hard to spot at first. Do you hear the cooling fan running more often than usual?
