Corolla engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Toyota Corolla diesel is experiencing engine power loss, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. The suspected cause is a faulty intake manifold flap control, which is a known issue with these vehicles. The problem was confirmed and resolved by replacing the intake manifold flap control, restoring the car's performance.

An airflow problem, eh? Interesting thought. You reckon it could be something else besides the intake manifold? I've read about the intake manifold flap control being a common issue. What did you do to fix it?

I'm no expert, but based on what you're describing, the intake manifold issue is a thing with these. I took mine to a workshop. They diagnosed a faulty intake manifold control switch. Honestly, better to get it checked professionally than mess something up. Did you consider the same?

Workshop it is. Thanks for confirming my suspicions and for sharing your experience! Turns out it was indeed the intake manifold flap control, like I initially thought. Cost me 465€ to get it sorted, but at least the car's running smoothly again.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Corolla: engine light, loss of power, weird noises... Is it possible that it's an airflow problem somewhere? Did you check for any obvious leaks in the air intake?
