Corolla Hybrid Low Battery Error

I've got a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid with about 56000 km. I'm getting a low battery error on the speedometer. The lights seem weak and flicker sometimes, and I've got a low voltage error code. The engine struggles to start sometimes too. Any ideas? I checked the battery terminals and they look clean.

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Corolla. Sounds like your battery is heavily discharged. Did you try charging it? I would check the electrical system for any shorts or parasitic draws. If the battery is old, it might just be failing. Batteries often don't last forever with all the electronics in modern cars. Keep us posted.

Thanks! I haven't tried charging it yet, as I thought the hybrid system would keep it topped up. Could it really be just a bad battery, even with relatively low mileage? What exactly happened with your Corolla, and how did you fix it?

Okay, so with mine, it was a bit of a nightmare. Same symptoms as you described. I even tried replacing the battery myself, but the problem came back after a few weeks. It turned out to be a defective battery sensor that was causing the problems and messing up the charging. Honestly, with those hybrid systems, it's best to get it checked out by a professional. Could save you headaches. It's probably a good idea to visit your local garage.

Thanks! It was indeed a defective battery sensor. Cost me 315€ to get it sorted at the workshop, but everything is working perfectly again now.
