Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. The corroded pins explanation makes a lot of sense. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you had any other steering-related issues pop up? I might check out a Vauxhall specialist in my area, seems like they're the way to go with electrical problems like this.

Hey again! Yeah, happy to update you! After getting it fixed at the Vauxhall specialist, it cost me 155.00 € to repair the faulty cable connection. They basically had to fix the plug connection that was causing all the trouble. I know it might sound a bit pricey for a connection issue, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The best part? Since getting it sorted, my steering's been working perfectly, no more warning lights, no vibrations, nothing! It's been over a year now, and I haven't had a single steering-related problem pop up. The electric power steering signal error that was driving me nuts is completely gone. You're definitely on the right track thinking about a Vauxhall specialist. These electrical issues can be tricky, and having someone who knows these cars inside out makes a huge difference. Regular garages often struggle with the diagnostic side of things. Let me know how you get on with your repair! I'm curious to hear if it turns out to be the same issue as mine.

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually took your advice and got it sorted last week at a Vauxhall specialist. You won't believe it, but it was exactly the same issue, corroded pins in the connector! Cost me a bit more, around 180 €, but they did a thorough job. The mechanic showed me the old connector and explained everything. He mentioned these problems are pretty common in our model years. Took them about 4 hours to fix everything, but the difference is like night and day. My steering's smooth as butter now, all the warning lights are gone, and no more scary vibrations! Really glad I asked here and got your input. Saved me from going back to my old mechanic who probably would've just scratched his head at it. Feels great to finally have this sorted, guess we can both say we're part of the "dodgy steering club" now, haha! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there, had the exact same issue with my 2010 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 CDTI last year. The symptoms were identical, steering wheel vibrations, power steering failure, and those annoying warning lights. Turned out it was a faulty connection in the electric power steering wiring harness. Took it to my local Vauxhall specialist after my regular garage couldn't figure it out. They found corroded pins in the main connector that links the steering control module to the power steering motor. They had to replace the entire wiring harness and recalibrate the system. It wasn't a super serious issue in terms of complexity, but definitely not something you want to ignore, it affects your steering control and safety systems. The repair took about half a day. Would definitely recommend finding a garage that specializes in Vauxhall electrical systems for this one. They'll have the right diagnostic tools and experience with these specific power steering issues. Hope this helps!
